I saw the first daffodils yesterday! It won't be too long until flowers are blooming all over the place. Along a certain stretch of Pellissippi Parkway in Knoxville, masses of yellow daffodils bloom every spring. Due to Maria Compere, a local philanthropist, hundreds of thousands of bulbs have been planted. I'll try to get a photo when they're at their peak. Until then, here is photo of tulips taken last spring.

These were taken last December at my parents' house. A flock of cardinals, with a few other birds and several squirrels descended on the bird feeder and feasted on sunflower seeds.

I'm not entirely sure what that female cardinal is doing.

This was taken on Bote Mountain Trail last weekend. There's a section of the forest that burned in 1987. Some of old trees killed by the fire still stand sentinel among the unruly undergrowth.
